.:: Friday, October 31, 2008 ::. A little Halloween humor ... I was on the phone with my sister yesterday. She was giving me some bad news ... not seriously bad, just disappointing news. My response was: Me: Geez, that's not good. Sister: Yeah, it's a shame. I'm sorry. Me: Oh well, as Moby Dick would say, "That blows." Sister: [giggle] Me: Or as Dracula would say, "That sucks." Sister: [laugh out loud] Me: Or as the Hound of the Baskervilles would say, "That's a bitch." Sister: [chuckle] Me: Or as the Headless Horseman would say, "That's hard to swallow." Sister: Oooh, that's a bad one. Me: You're right. Okay, how about this one. As Lizzie Borden would say, "That's just whack!" Sister: [snort] OMG, you're too funny. I'll have to remember that. I know it sounds horrible but I can't wait to get some bad news so I can use it. Well, not really bad news but, you know ... (The following is a standard exchange between us) Me: There's something real sick about you, sis. Sister: I know, that's why you love me. Me: Youuu BETCHA! I love my sister. She thinks I'm hilarious. She knows too that when she laughs, I laugh even harder. She always knows what I need when I'm discouraged. It's said that laughter is the best medicine. After a series of disappointments this week (news of one which she delivered to me herself) she really cheered me up. It's amazing how just a small tidbit of news can turn one's world upside-down. However, I'm my mother's daughter. I'm rich in tenacity. So I'll just stand on my head for a while until I can get my feet back on the ground. yuck-yuck Yeah, I know that was lame. And in the end, the love you take
